Santa Cruz Farmer's Market in Downtown. 831-454-0566 The Santa Cruz Farmer's Market is four blocks from the Adobe on Green Street on the corner of Lincoln and Cedar Streets. Every Wednesday afternoon from 2:30pm to 6:30pm farmers, bakers, cheese makers, egg producers, and one oyster cultivator gather in a parking lot on this corner and sell their goods directly to the public. This market has been operated on this spot for over ten years. The mix of goods changes slowly with the seasons, however, there are some regular folks one can count on seeing each week. One such person is the oyster man who serves up fresh raw oysters from Tamales Bay (north of San Francisco). A couple of bakeries and egg produces are there every week as well. The balance of produce farmers bring whatever is being harvested at the time. Spring, Summer and Fall bring out a harvest of fruits including raspberries, blackberries, cherries, tomatoes, pears, apricots, apples, peaches, and melons. Winter crops include onions, beans, lettuce, artichokes, kale, broccoli, spinach, herbs, cauliflower, and Brussels sprouts. If you're looking for a market on the weekend, try the Cabrillo College Farmer's Market on Soquel Drive in Aptos every Saturday morning from 8:00am to 12:00pm. The Cabrillo market has been going strong for over 25 years. Their phone number is 831-728-5060.
